field of dreams
ink-black night with icing-sugar stars.
she laughs hysterically in the backseat, pulling at the broken door handle and streaking licorice across the glass.
the other (could be her sister) stares silently, vertically, profoundly, thinking of her next joint.
they can't see the water dripping from my eyes. hear the panicy prayers from my pit or know how desperate i feel.
there is no God, they whisper. you're spending your life on nothing.
another chuckle and then, stunned stupor. they stare. i back up the car and they shiver.
in a field laced with milky moonlight, you're waiting.
shining.
humble farmer, awesome God, you've come for them.

Hey sweet girl,
He finds them slowly but surely doesn't he -- don't let them bring you down, your job is not over yet =)
Love you,
Amy
he's the pursuer, and we're loved by him as the work of his hands and the art of his imagination. there is no limit to the reasons why we can trust our Daddy/God, in peacefulness, to know by his Spirit's revelation that he is patiently -- yet passionately -- pursuing us, his little kids and prodigals. he is love.
Oswald Chambers, in 1935, said the following which I wanted to share with ya to encourage you that your relationship with the Lord is more important to Him than the amount of time you spend doing things for Him, Em. We love you, soooo much!
"If you keep your relationship right with Him, then regardless of your circumstances or whoever you encounter each day, He will continue to pour "rivers of living water" through you (John 7:38).
And it is actually by His mercy that He does not let you know it. Once you have the right relationship wtih God through salvation and sanctification, remember that whatever your circumstances may be, you have been placed in them by God.
And God uses the reaction of your life to your circumstances to fulfill His purpose, as long as you continue to "walk in the light as He is in the light" (1 John 1:7).
... If you make usefulness the test, then Jesus Christ was the greatest failure who ever lived. [Jesus Christ was saying,] "Don't rejoice in your successful service FOR Me, but rejoice because of your right relationship WITH Me." (see Luke 10:20)
... direction and guidance come from God Himself, not some measure of that saint's usefulness.
All that our Lord gives His attention to in a person' life is that person's relationship with God -- something of great value to His Father.
Jesus is "bringing many SONS to glory..." (Heb. 2:10)
(See August 3 reading in Oswald Chamber's book, My Utmost for His Highest (updated edition, ed. James Reimann, Copyright 1995, 1992 by Oswald Chambers Publications Association, Ltd. Barbour Publishing, Inc.)
PS You are just so wonderful, Em, simply who you have been created.
Chambers also says, "My goal is God Himself, not joy nor peace,
Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God....Your priorities must be God first, God second, and God third, until your life is continually face to face with God and no one else is taken into account whatsoever. Your prayer will then be, "In all the world there is no one but You, dear God; there is no one but You." (July 12, 13 reading, My Utmost for His Highest)
I love ya, Emily -- friend and sister. You are a beautiful, creative, inspiring, and encouraging.
such a beautiful picture of our loving, caring, Father God, Hound of Heaven who will not give up bringing us into relationship with Him. Such hope there is in this. thanks em.
