overboard
afraid to step out of theboat
i stare at my reflection in the
water
ashen white
skin
butterfly
hands
i see his footprints on the
waves
the back of his head as he walks
away
suddenly i'm
overboard
skimming the
surface
chasing the man i claim to
follow
so desperate to see his
face
i forget my own
fears

wow. so great. the line between fear and faith is so thin sometimes... we criticize peter for sinking, but really, who else has stepped out like that? i'm sure peter himself was ashamed of his fear, but he's gone down in history as the only one besides Jesus to have walked on water.
